Area Info
The Umzimkulu River winds through the farm for 7 km, offering excellent trout fishing, picnicking , tubing, canoeing and swimming opportunities. Enjoy walking and mountain biking, on Elgin farm. Horseriding, from hour rides to all-day trails, is available close by.
Birdwatchers will enjoy the prolific birdlife, especially a variety of waterfowl and raptors.
There is a Lunch time resturant called The Olde Duck situated on the property as well as a The Daughters Deli & Vanilla Rose Clothing Boutique.
The district offers three scenic golfing opportunities: the 9-hole Underberg golf course, Sani Pass Hotel 9-hole golf course and 18-hole Glen Garrie Golf course at Drakensberg Gardens Hotel.
Restaurants, health & beauty clinics and farm stalls, a cheesery, a gallery, hiking and fishing shops, and other interesting gift shops are situated in nearby Underberg and Himeville.
Elgin is conveniently situated to entry points into the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site for guests wanting to hike up the main escarpment or explore San Rock Art.
