Gariep Country Lodge
Welcome to Gariep Country Lodge, your ideal Prieska accommodation for a relaxing and convenient stay. Established in 2005, the lodge understands the needs of its guests, offering warm hospitality and comfortable lodging. Managed by Gavin and Cathy, this charming guesthouse provides a welcoming atmosphere for travellers. Gariep Country Lodge features en-suite rooms, each fully equipped with a bathroom, air-conditioning, a TV with DStv, electric blankets, a bar fridge or refrigerator, and a coffee and tea tray. Guests also have access to free Wi-Fi. Breakfast is served daily, with additional meals available on request. Our en-suite self-catering units have kitchenettes equipped with an induction plate, a microwave, coffee/tea facilities, and a fridge. The self-catering cottage has an indoor built-in braai while the studio has access to the communal braai facilities. The lodge offers four campsites, each with an electric output, a tap with running water, and private ablution facilities for those who enjoy the outdoors. A braai stand is available on request. Located near the Orange River, guests can unwind in the shaded garden or take a dip in the outdoor pool.
Area Info
Located 243 km southeast of Upington, Prieska sits along the Orange River in an arid region where rainfall is scarce, and summer temperatures soar above 40°C. Nestled at the foot of the Doringberg, the town is known for its historic homes with wooden floors and tin roofs, some now used for businesses.
The surrounding area, called the "Rock Garden Route," is home to rare succulents like quiver trees and Pachypodium namaquanum. Often a stopover for travellers heading to Namibia, Prieska’s riverbanks support irrigation farms, while sheep, cattle, and game farming dominate the land beyond.
