Clanwilliam is one of the ten oldest towns in South Africa and historical walks through the town center take in seven national monuments that include the original farmhouse of Jan Dissels, which also explains the origin of the name of the, then Clanwilliam - Jan Disselvalleij, in those years with the discovery of historic Clanwilliam.
