Wilderness is a small coastal town on South Africa’s famous Garden Route, located in the Western Cape between George and Knysna. The nearest airport is George Airport, only about a 20-minute drive away, which makes it easily accessible for visitors.
The area is famous for its unspoilt scenery. Wilderness boasts around 18 km of pristine beaches, perfect for long walks, swimming, and surfing. It is also surrounded by rivers, lakes, lagoons, and estuaries such as the Touw River, Langvlei, and Rondevlei. Much of the area falls within the Wilderness section of the Garden Route National Park, which is rich in indigenous forests, fynbos, and wetlands that attract an impressive variety of birdlife. A popular viewpoint in the area is the Map of Africa, where visitors can enjoy panoramic views over river valleys and the coastline.
