The Boathouse at Oakhurst Olives
Enjoy the beautiful self-catering Boathouse on our multi-award-winning olive farm. If you haven’t been to Tulbagh before, you are in for a wonderful surprise, as there are so many things to do and see. Just 90 minutes from Cape Town and part of the Cape Winelands, this tranquil farming valley is nestled between three mountains: the Groot Winterhoek, the Witzenberg, and the Obiqua. The Boathouse consists of an open-plan living room with a dining table, a fully equipped kitchen and a scullery with a dishwasher, a queen-sized air-conditioned bedroom with white percale linen, and an en-suite bathroom with a shower. For those cold winter days, there is a log fire in the living room and underfloor heating throughout. The living area and bedroom open out onto the wrap-around patio overlooking the water, which features a hot tub, barbecue/braai, and dining area. On the lower level, a ladder provides access to the water for swimming (swimming towels are provided), as well as a kayak and life jackets for your use. Please note that all activities are at your own risk. The dam water is used for irrigating our olive orchards and is not always at its fullest capacity, especially near the end of summer. For your convenience on arrival, tea, coffee (Nespresso machine and plunger), milk, rusks, and ice are provided. Firewood for the barbecue and indoor fireplace, as well as firelighters, are also supplied. Guests also receive a complimentary olive tasting voucher for two, valid during their stay (closed on Sundays). Please present your voucher at the Oakhurst Olive Tasting Room to validate it. Please note that The Boathouse can only accommodate a maximum of two guests and is not recommended for children due to its proximity to the water. You will be staying on a beautiful farm with exclusive use of The Boathouse, situated at Oakhurst Olives against the slopes of the Groot Winterhoek Mountains. There are also beautiful opportunities for birdwatching, hiking along farm tracks through the olive orchards and fynbos on the mountain, or simply escaping the hustle and bustle of the city to enjoy a relaxing afternoon nap. We have two very friendly and enthusiastic dogs who roam freely on the farm, and they are sure to come say hello during your stay.
