Area Info
Dinokeng translates into 'place of two rivers' - in this case the Elands and Pienaars - an area close to the town of Cullinan established as a tourist destination and part of a government initiative.
Free roaming lion and elephant, the first in over a hundred years in the Tshwane Metro, is an impressive draw card, as are white rhino, hyena, giraffe, leopard and buffalo.
The relatively young Dinokeng reserve, opened only in late 2011, is 18 500 hectares of former farming land restored for use as it originally must have been – as home to wild animals. The reserve has a number of accommodation options in separate game lodges, farm stays, bush camps and chalets.
