The Villa@Nakai

A soulful coastal retreat overlooking the Indian Ocean Set beside the acclaimed Nakai guest house and overlooking the endless blue of the Indian Ocean, The Villa@Nakai is a secluded, self-contained home that invites you to exhale and return to what truly matters. Cradled in nature and facing the unspoiled Trafalgar Marine Reserve, this is a place for soulful retreat, elegant, understated, and profoundly restorative. With architectural echoes of Mexico, Morocco, and India, the villa blends a magnificent central dome with exotic corner crenellations and a clean-lined, contemporary interpretation of an Indian door, evocative of distant lands, yet quietly modern, to create an atmosphere reminiscent of a Merchant Ivory film: timeless, romantic, and deeply atmospheric. Step inside and you’ll find an interior shaped by the same spirit of refined simplicity and exotic inspiration that defines Nakai. The villa sleeps six in three beautifully appointed bedrooms. Two offer en-suite shower rooms, while the third shares a stylish adjacent bathroom. All rooms feature organic textiles, hanging raffia lights, curated original artworks, and thoughtful details like integrated reading lights and easy-access charging points. The open-plan kitchen is a cocoon for slow, joyful meals, with a solid oak table at its heart, a gas hob for passionate cooks, and a Nespresso machine for that essential morning ritual. Step through into the lounge, where a generous sofa and large-screen TV offer a space to unwind, framed by panoramic ocean views. Off the kitchen, under the soft curve of the villa’s signature dome and a statement chandelier, a sheltered patio gives way to an al fresco dining area nestled beside a lush spice and herb garden. Cardamom, lemongrass, basil, and more are yours to pick, an invitation for the culinary-inclined to forage and create. Just beyond, a private 5x3m plunge pool and sundeck with plush bean bags complete the sense of barefoot luxury. The Villa is equipped with backup power and water, and all windows and doors are fitted with elegant plantation-style security shutters. Discreet beams and thoughtful design provide a reassuring sense of safety without compromising beauty or peace. We welcome guests seeking stillness, beauty, and connection to the natural world, not the party crowd, but those drawn to the ocean’s rhythm, a good book in hand, and the scent of salt and spice on the breeze. A short drive takes you to Trafalgar’s pristine Blue Flag beach, but most who stay find it hard to leave the embrace of The Villa@Nakai—where serenity, style, and the soulful magic of the tropics meet. “Wherever you go, you meet part of your story.” — Paul Bowles
