Clarens, a picturesque village in South Africa’s Free State province, is a popular retreat for city dwellers from Johannesburg, Bloemfontein, and Durban. Known for its tranquil atmosphere, scenic beauty, and mild climate, it has become a hub for artists, featuring numerous galleries around the village and its square.

Nestled among sandstone cliffs and surrounded by mountain ranges, Rooiberge and the distant Maluti Mountains, Clarens is celebrated for its striking landscapes and has been recognised for having some of the best trout fishing waters in South Africa. Many local buildings feature sandstone architecture, reflecting the area's geology.

Nearby, the Golden Gate Highlands National Park lies just 17 km away, offering dramatic sandstone formations and cliffs.
